Achieve Your Resolutions In 2017
Every year at this time, friends and family alike talk about making “resolutions” for the coming New Year. People make all sorts of resolutions including; weight loss, exercise, eating better, getting out of debt, quitting smoking, reducing stress, spending more time with family and friends, traveling more, drinking less, volunteering, learning something new, to name a few. Many of us fail year after year wishing things could have worked out. Next year we tell ourselves, next year I’ll achieve my resolutions! With each new year comes renewed hope, but we inevitably throw in the towel so to speak, after a few short weeks or months, thinking ourselves miserable failures. If you are one of those who fail achieving your resolutions year after year, why not change that this year? How, you ask?
As we begin this New Year together, let’s begin by refreshing our memories about what it means to make a resolution? A resolution is not about hoping, or wishing, and does not involve one minute of daydreaming. Making a resolution involves “the act of determining what we will do.” To act, is to take action! If you feel you fail year after year, no doubt you have been leaving the action part out of your equation.
What have you resolved to do this year? Make your list, be realistic; don’t make your list too long. It may help to write down the pros and cons of achieving each of your resolutions. Remember to achieve your goals, you must include the action into your day to day calendar.
Have you noticed, that most if not all resolutions are about taking better care of, or improving yourself; body, mind and spirit, yet how many of us when planning our day fail miserably at blocking off time for self in our daily schedule? We go to work, reserving time for appointments with client’s, shopping, family, etc., but not for ourselves. Get serious, be thoughtful about the time needed to achieve your resolutions as you would for any other of your “must do” items on your calendar. Make the time, take action on a daily, weekly, monthly basis, and you will achieve your resolutions in 2017! Happy New Year!
