You Are Valuable and Uniquely Beautiful!
What thoughts first come to your mind when you read, “Always know how valuable and uniquely beautiful you are?” Whether you believe you are or whether you believe you are not, you’re right! Your thoughts and actions directly result in your own belief and thought patterns. How you think of yourself has a major influence in determining your choices and your success in life. Please don’t give in to believing every thought that pops into your head, for our thoughts are merely that – thoughts. By thinking them, dwelling on them, repeating them you give those negative thoughts power they do not deserve. We have all heard the expression particularly concerning food, “Garbage in, garbage out,” yet the same holds true for our thoughts and our words.
Our negative thoughts promote negative words and they are both toxic. This negativity doesn’t stop at harming us mentally and emotionally. Negativity affects those around us too creating more negative thoughts, words and emotions. Think of how you feel when you’re with someone who always focuses on the negative, it’s a downer isn’t it?
On the other hand, positive words create positive thoughts and positive feelings within us, we in turn share those positives with others. Now think of how it feels to be around someone who talks and thinks positively. BIG difference! Motivational author Louise Hay tells us, “Every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation…You’re using affirmations every moment whether you know it or not.”
If you are that person who can’t seem to stop thinking and speaking negatively, know that there is a way to retrain your brain by creating your own custom list of self-care affirmations that you can repeat out loud throughout the day – every day. Also beneficial is to speak them aloud while looking into a mirror. The word affirmation comes from the Latin affirmare, originally meaning “to make steady, strengthen.” One way to steady or strengthen our thoughts in the positive would be to write down then repeat out loud compliments that you have been given then add to that list – your ambitions, a wish list if you will repeating them in the present tense, e.g. “I believe in myself and my ability to succeed,” “I attract positive people in my life because I am a positive person,” “I choose to be happy.” Now go about creating your own personalized list of positive affirmations, repeat them aloud several times a day. In doing this you are retraining your brain resulting in a deep sense of reassurance which will begin to transform you. Don’t be impatient becoming negative didn’t happen overnight!
