Teach Your Child to Ride a Bike
Children love to ride bikes. They can be taught at a very early age. Click HERE to watch a little boy as he zips around a playground very quickly mastering the skill of balance obviously having lots of fun. It looks as though he is ready for the next step which is to put the pedals back on his bike.
One important item missing from this scene however is a helmet. Please don’t forget to teach your children bike safety when they are old enough to take to the road. Teach your child they must obey the rules of the road, be predictable just as a car must follow the rules of the road. Are you aware that cyclists can face the same penalties as motorists when they don’t obey these rules? In California for example “by law, bicycle riders under 18 years old must wear a bicycle helmet while riding on a public road (CVC §21212). ” Please check with your Department of Motor Vehicles for the rules in your state or country.
